Rainfall in various parts of Lahore on Wednesday turned the weather pleasant, providing much-needed relief to residents after days of intense heat and high temperatures.
Light to moderate rain accompanied by cool winds was reported in several areas of the provincial capital, including Mall Road, Gulberg, Model Town, Johar Town, Canal Road and surrounding localities. The showers significantly lowered temperatures and improved weather conditions across the city.
Residents welcomed the change in weather as the rain ended the prevailing hot and humid conditions. Many people were seen enjoying the cooler temperatures in parks, markets and public spaces.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the rainfall was caused by a weather system affecting parts of Punjab and is expected to bring intermittent showers to several districts. Authorities have advised citizens to remain cautious during periods of heavy rain, particularly in low-lying areas where water accumulation may occur.
The PMD has also forecast partly cloudy conditions with chances of further rain and thunderstorms in Lahore and adjoining areas over the next 24 hours.
While the rain brought relief from the heat, traffic flow slowed on several major roads as commuters navigated wet conditions during peak hours. Civic agencies remained on alert to address any drainage-related issues.
The pleasant weather is expected to continue, offering respite to Lahorites from the ongoing summer heat spell.
