Gold prices in Pakistan declined on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, with the price of 24-karat gold falling by Rs3,700 per tola in the local market.

According to market rates, 24-karat gold was priced at Rs458,236 per tola, down from Rs461,936 recorded a day earlier. The price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold also decreased by Rs3,172, reaching Rs392,863.

The decline in domestic gold prices followed weakness in international bullion markets. Global gold prices have remained volatile as investors assess interest-rate expectations, movements in the US dollar and broader economic developments.

Gold prices are closely watched in Pakistan because the precious metal is widely used for jewellery, savings and investment. Local rates are influenced by international bullion prices as well as fluctuations in the Pakistani rupee against major currencies.

The latest drop comes after gold prices remained at historically high levels, offering some relief to consumers and jewellery buyers. However, market participants expect prices to remain sensitive to developments in global financial markets.

Investors are also keeping an eye on signals from the US Federal Reserve, as expectations about future interest-rate decisions can influence demand for gold. Lower interest rates generally support bullion because gold does not generate interest, while higher rates can put pressure on prices.

Local dealers may continue to adjust gold rates as international prices and currency movements change. Buyers are therefore expected to monitor the market closely before making major purchases.

Gold remains one of Pakistan’s most popular traditional stores of value, particularly during periods of economic uncertainty and currency volatility.
