Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan has been shifted back to Adiala Jail after undergoing a medical check-up at a hospital in Islamabad.
Khan was taken to Shifa International Hospital on Friday for a medical examination following concerns raised over his health. The hospital visit came after the Supreme Court directed authorities to arrange a medical assessment of the incarcerated PTI founder.
A team of doctors examined Khan during his stay at the hospital. According to government officials, doctors declared him medically fit before he was transported back to Adiala Jail.
The development comes amid continued concerns from Khan’s family and PTI leaders regarding his health and access to medical care. His reported vision problems had been a particular point of concern, prompting calls for examination by specialist doctors.
PTI has repeatedly demanded that Khan be provided comprehensive medical facilities and access to doctors of his choice. The party has also criticized restrictions surrounding his meetings with family members and legal representatives.
Khan has remained incarcerated since 2023 in connection with several cases. His imprisonment continues to be a major political issue in Pakistan, with PTI maintaining that the cases against him are politically motivated. Authorities have rejected the allegations.
The former prime minister’s return to Adiala Jail follows the completion of his latest medical examination, while legal proceedings and political efforts surrounding his imprisonment remain ongoing.
