Iran Claims Major US Losses After Missile Strike in Jordan

Iran has claimed that its missile and drone strikes against U.S. military positions in Jordan inflicted major casualties on American forces, escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington following a fresh wave of U.S. attacks on Iranian targets.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it launched a heavy retaliatory operation against U.S. facilities in Jordan, including Camp Titin and Prince Hassan Air Base. Iranian officials claimed that American personnel were killed and military infrastructure was damaged during the attacks.

However, the United States has disputed Iran’s casualty claims. U.S. officials said there were no American casualties from the latest attacks, highlighting the conflicting accounts emerging as the two countries exchange strikes across the region.

Jordanian authorities reported that their air defenses intercepted 10 of 13 Iranian ballistic missiles that entered the kingdom’s airspace. The interceptions underscored the growing role of Jordan in the expanding confrontation between Iran and U.S.-aligned forces.

The Iranian retaliation came after U.S. forces carried out strikes against Iranian military infrastructure, including IRGC air-defense systems, radar installations, maritime assets and communications facilities. Washington said the operation was intended to counter threats to U.S. forces and commercial shipping.

Iran described its response as retaliation for the American attacks and warned that further strikes could follow if Washington continues military operations against Iranian targets.

The latest exchange represents one of the most serious escalations since fighting resumed after a temporary lull. Reuters reported that Iran also targeted U.S. positions in Iraq and Bahrain, while regional countries worked to intercept incoming missiles and drones.

The escalating conflict has raised fears of a wider regional war, with Jordan, Bahrain, Iraq and other countries increasingly exposed to military operations. The confrontation has also pushed global oil prices higher amid concerns over shipping through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

With Tehran promising continued retaliation and Washington warning of further military action, international efforts to contain the conflict face growing challenges.
