The Islamabad High Court (IHC) is set to hear appeals filed by former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi against their convictions in the £190 million corruption case today.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sardar Sarfaraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif will take up the pleas challenging the verdict handed down by an accountability court.

The couple was convicted in January 2025 in the high-profile Al-Qadir Trust corruption reference, with Imran Khan sentenced to 14 years in prison and Bushra Bibi to seven years.

Their appeals seek to overturn the convictions and include requests related to suspension of sentences, with several miscellaneous applications also pending before the court.

The case, linked to an alleged £190 million settlement involving the National Crime Agency, remains one of the most significant legal challenges facing the former premier, who has been embroiled in multiple cases since his removal from office in 2022.

In a parallel development, a banking court in Islamabad is also scheduled to hear a prohibited funding case against the PTI founder, adding to the legal pressure surrounding him.

Today’s hearing is expected to be crucial, as the high court begins formal proceedings on the appeals that could determine the future course of the high-stakes corruption case.
