A high-level government committee has stepped up its review of the controversial One Constitution Avenue project, formally seeking detailed records and explanations from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) as legal and administrative scrutiny intensifies.

The committee—formed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif—held its first meeting under the chairmanship of Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, with senior officials including the CDA chairman in attendance.

During the session, the CDA presented key facts about the multi-billion-rupee project, while the committee demanded a comprehensive briefing in the next meeting to fully assess the situation.

Officials said the committee will also hear from affected residents and stakeholders before finalising its recommendations. Authorities aim to examine all legal and technical aspects of the case before submitting a report to the prime minister.

The development follows a recent verdict by the Islamabad High Court, which upheld the cancellation of the project’s lease, ruling that apartment buyers do not hold ownership rights and may seek compensation through legal channels.

The committee has pledged to complete its review swiftly, as the high-profile case continues to impact residents, investors, and the real estate landscape in the federal capital.
