Pakistan has announced major tariff reductions at Gwadar Port in a bid to attract international transit trade and boost commercial activity at the strategically important deep-sea port.
According to Maritime Affairs Minister Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, berthing charges for container vessels will be slashed by 25 percent, while port charges for international transshipment cargo will also see significant reductions. The move is aimed at making Gwadar Port more competitive for regional and global shipping lines.
Officials say the tariff cuts are part of broader efforts to transform Gwadar into a major trade and logistics hub under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The government hopes the incentives will attract more cargo traffic and foreign investment to the port.
Gwadar Port, located in Balochistan along the Arabian Sea, is considered a key gateway for regional connectivity linking Pakistan, China, Central Asia and the Middle East.
