Iran has claimed responsibility for a ballistic missile attack targeting a U.S. military base in Jordan, describing the strike as retaliation for renewed American attacks against Iranian military targets.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said Iranian forces launched missiles toward U.S. positions in Jordan as part of a broader retaliatory operation. Tehran has repeatedly warned that American military action against Iran would face a response across the region.

Iranian state media reported that U.S. facilities in Jordan were among the targets of the latest missile campaign. The claims came as Iran launched attacks against American interests at several locations in the Middle East, further escalating an already volatile confrontation.

Jordanian authorities moved to respond to the incoming threat, with air-defense systems reportedly intercepting Iranian missiles over or near Jordanian territory. The situation has raised concerns in Amman over the potential impact of the widening conflict on Jordanian security.

The reported attack follows a new wave of U.S. strikes against Iranian military infrastructure, including Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps air-defense positions, radar systems and maritime assets. Washington has described its operations as necessary to counter threats to American forces and shipping in the region.

Iran, however, has characterized its missile attacks as legitimate retaliation and warned that it will continue responding to U.S. military operations.

The latest escalation has increased fears that the conflict could expand beyond Iran and the United States, drawing neighboring countries deeper into the confrontation. Jordan, Iraq and other regional states face growing pressure to protect their territory while avoiding direct involvement in the conflict.

The situation has also created fresh concerns for international energy markets and commercial shipping, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil supplies.

As missile exchanges continue, diplomatic efforts to contain the conflict face growing challenges. Regional governments and international organizations are urging restraint, warning that continued attacks could produce a wider and potentially prolonged Middle East crisis.
