Multiple explosions have been reported across several parts of Iran amid a sharp escalation in hostilities between the United States and Iran.
Iranian media reported blasts in Bandar Abbas and on Qeshm Island in Hormozgan province, while additional explosions were reported in areas including Sirik, Jask, Konarak and Chabahar. The incidents occurred near strategically important locations along Iran’s southern coastline and the Strait of Hormuz.
The reports followed a new wave of U.S. military strikes against Iranian targets. Washington said its forces had targeted military infrastructure linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including air-defense systems, radar installations, maritime assets, mine-laying capabilities and communications facilities.
Local reports said several explosions were heard in Qeshm, with residents reporting blasts in areas near Masan village. Further explosions were reported in the direction of the Strait of Hormuz. Initial reports from some locations indicated that casualties had not immediately been confirmed.
In Ahvaz, Iranian officials reported an explosion in the area, while separate reports indicated that targets near Chabahar and Konarak had also been struck.
The latest developments have heightened concerns over the security of Iran’s southern provinces and the wider Gulf region. The Strait of Hormuz remains particularly sensitive because it is one of the world’s most important routes for global oil shipments.
Iran has vowed to retaliate against U.S. military operations, while Washington has warned Tehran against further attacks on American forces and interests in the region. The exchange of strikes has already raised fears that the conflict could expand beyond the immediate confrontation between the two countries.
International governments have urged restraint as the situation continues to deteriorate. Any prolonged disruption around the Strait of Hormuz could have significant consequences for energy markets, international shipping and the broader global economy.
With reports of explosions emerging from multiple Iranian regions, uncertainty remains high. Further military action by either side could deepen the crisis and increase the risk of a wider regional conflict.
