Police in Faisalabad have arrested a man after allegedly recovering a large quantity of mobile phones, smartphones and ATM cards from his possession, raising concerns over a possible connection with a wider criminal network.
According to initial details, law enforcement authorities detained the suspect during an operation in the city. A search reportedly led to the recovery of 195 mobile phones, 16 smartphones and 81 ATM cards.
The seized items have been taken into police custody as investigators work to determine their origin and establish how they came into the suspect’s possession. Officials are also examining whether any of the recovered mobile devices or bank cards were linked to theft, fraud or other criminal activity.
The recovery of dozens of ATM cards has particularly prompted investigators to look into possible financial crimes. Authorities are expected to verify the cards and contact relevant banks to determine whether they belong to different individuals and whether any unauthorized transactions were carried out.
Police have launched an investigation into the case, while further legal proceedings against the suspect are expected to follow under the relevant laws. Officials have not yet disclosed the identity of the arrested man or provided details about his alleged criminal activities.
Investigators are also expected to trace the ownership of the recovered mobile phones and smartphones. The findings could help authorities determine whether the devices were stolen or obtained through other illegal means.
Authorities said further information would be shared as the investigation progresses.
The arrest and recovery come as law enforcement agencies continue efforts to curb theft, fraud and other forms of organized crime in Faisalabad. The case remains under investigation, and the allegations against the suspect will be subject to due legal process.
