Mushaal Malik, wife of Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik, staged a protest outside the children’s ward of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad over the deaths of newborn babies in a hospital tragedy.
Mushaal arrived at the hospital with her daughter and protested after she said they were not allowed to enter the children’s ward. Speaking to reporters, she expressed grief over the deaths and called for those responsible to be held accountable.
She described the incident as a serious failure of responsibility and demanded immediate action from the authorities. Mushaal also called for a transparent investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths and identify those responsible.
During the protest, she reportedly demanded the resignation of the health minister and urged the government to take urgent steps to improve safety and medical care at public hospitals.
Mushaal also recalled a personal experience involving PIMS, alleging that her father was given the wrong medication at the hospital in 2005. She said the incident had contributed to her concerns about patient safety and accountability within the healthcare system.
