The Government of Balochistan has officially announced summer vacations for all public and private schools, colleges, and educational institutions operating in the province’s summer-zone areas amid rising temperatures across the region.
According to a notification issued by the Balochistan Education Department, educational institutions in the designated summer zones will remain closed from May 23 to July 31, 2026. The decision applies to both government-run and privately managed institutions throughout the province.
Officials said the move was taken as temperatures continue to soar in several districts, making classroom conditions difficult for students and staff. The provincial government stated that the annual closure aims to protect children, teachers, and administrative employees from extreme heat during the peak summer months.
The Education Department has directed all heads of institutions to complete pending administrative work before the vacations begin. Authorities instructed schools and colleges to finalize official records, documentation, and internal arrangements ahead of the closure period to ensure smooth reopening after the summer break.
In addition, educational institutions have been ordered to complete all matters related to the ongoing digital census process before the holidays commence. Officials warned that strict monitoring would be carried out to ensure full compliance with the government’s directives.
The announcement comes as several provinces across Pakistan begin issuing summer vacation schedules due to increasing temperatures and changing weather conditions. Punjab and Sindh have also announced holidays for educational institutions in recent days as authorities move to safeguard students from the intense heatwave affecting multiple parts of the country.
Parents and students have welcomed the announcement, saying the early closure will provide relief during the harsh summer season. Many families in Balochistan’s warmer districts had expressed concerns over the impact of extreme temperatures on children attending schools without adequate cooling facilities.
Education officials clarified that institutions located in colder or winter-zone regions may receive separate instructions depending on local weather conditions and administrative requirements.
The provincial government is expected to issue further guidelines regarding the reopening schedule and academic activities closer to the end of the vacation period.
