Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has arrived in London for a three-day private visit, according to reports.
The Punjab chief minister is visiting the British capital primarily to attend her daughter’s graduation ceremony, sources said. She is also expected to attend a family wedding during her stay.
The visit has been described as private and family-focused. Sources said Maryam Nawaz has no political meetings scheduled during her time in London. Her itinerary reportedly does not include meetings with British officials, political leaders or other government representatives.
Maryam Nawaz’s arrival comes after reports on Friday confirmed that she would travel to London on Saturday for the brief visit. Her daughter’s graduation ceremony is understood to be the main purpose of the trip, while the family wedding is another important engagement.
According to reports, the Punjab chief minister is expected to spend most of her time with family members during her stay. No official political or diplomatic program has been announced in connection with the visit.
The London trip comes as the Punjab government continues its administrative and development activities across the province. Routine government affairs are expected to continue during the chief minister’s short absence.
Maryam Nawaz became Punjab chief minister in February 2024 and has since remained active in provincial governance, development projects and public welfare initiatives. However, the current London trip is being presented as a personal visit rather than an official government tour.
Her three-day stay is expected to conclude after the scheduled family events, following which she will return to Pakistan and resume her official responsibilities.
