Iran has issued a stern warning to the United States, cautioning its navy against entering the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, following President Donald Trump’s announcement that US forces would help guide stranded commercial vessels through the waterway.
Iranian military officials said any presence of US or foreign forces in the strait would be considered a threat, warning they would “respond harshly” and could attack if their territorial control is challenged.
The warning comes after Trump unveiled a plan—dubbed “Project Freedom”—to assist hundreds of ships trapped in the region due to ongoing conflict and blockades, with US naval support expected to begin operations immediately.
Tensions have sharply escalated as Iran maintains control over the key oil transit route, disrupting global shipping and energy supplies. Reports indicate that thousands of seafarers and hundreds of vessels remain stranded amid the crisis.
The Strait of Hormuz, a critical artery for global oil trade, has become the focal point of the ongoing confrontation, raising fears of wider conflict and further instability in international markets.
