Nvidia has joined forces with some of Wall Street’s biggest investment firms in a major financing initiative designed to mobilize more than $500 billion in third-party capital for artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The chip giant announced partnerships with Apollo, BlackRock, Blackstone, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs and KKR to establish independent financing platforms aimed at supporting the rapidly expanding AI infrastructure market.
The initiative will focus on financing the costly infrastructure required to power AI, including data centers, Nvidia-based computing systems and related energy capacity. The partnerships are intended to make large-scale computing resources more accessible to AI developers, enterprises, governments and cloud providers.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the financing effort reflects the growing importance of computing infrastructure as AI moves from experimentation into widespread commercial use. The company said the platforms will seek to provide capital at attractive rates while creating long-term investment opportunities for institutional investors.
Under the proposed structure, Nvidia could potentially backstop as much as $125 billion, equivalent to roughly 25% of the targeted financing, according to Reuters. However, the company has not disclosed specific investment commitments, detailed financial terms or a timetable for deploying the full $500 billion.
The announcement comes as technology companies and governments race to expand AI computing capacity. The enormous cost of building data centers and securing electricity has increased demand for alternative financing models capable of supporting infrastructure on a much larger scale.
The partnership also highlights the increasingly close relationship between technology companies and private capital as investors seek exposure to the AI boom.
While the $500 billion figure represents the amount of third-party capital the platforms aim to mobilize rather than a single upfront investment, the initiative could become one of the largest financing efforts tied to AI infrastructure.
