Chasing a modest target of 75 runs on the fourth day, Pakistan reached the finish line in just 23.3 overs despite losing both opening batters early. Captain Babar Azam and Abdullah Shafique ensured there were no further hiccups, guiding the visitors to a comfortable victory and preventing a series defeat.
The foundation of Pakistan’s success was laid in the first innings, where Abdullah Shafique played a career-defining knock of an unbeaten 160. His innings powered Pakistan to 387, giving the tourists a valuable 43-run first-innings lead after dismissing the West Indies for 344. Shafique’s remarkable effort also made him the first Pakistani batter since 1977 to score more than 150 in a Test innings in the Caribbean.
Pakistan’s spin attack then took control of the contest. Sajid Khan and Ali Usman dismantled the West Indies batting lineup in the second innings, bundling the hosts out for just 118. Their disciplined bowling ensured Pakistan had only a small target to chase, allowing the visitors to complete a comprehensive win.
The result means the two-match Test series finished level at 1-1 after the West Indies had won the opening Test by 90 runs. Pakistan will now turn their attention to the upcoming three-Test series in England, hoping to build on the momentum gained from their convincing triumph in Trinidad.
