Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan has invited Meta to collaborate with Pakistan in accelerating the country’s digital transformation through artificial intelligence (AI), e-commerce development, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
During a meeting with Meta representatives, the commerce minister highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to fostering a technology-driven economy and creating new opportunities for businesses to compete in global digital markets. He emphasized that strategic partnerships with leading technology companies such as Meta could play a key role in enhancing innovation, digital entrepreneurship, and export growth.
Jam Kamal proposed a joint initiative to train 1,000 Pakistani SMEs in digital marketing, AI-powered business tools, and e-commerce best practices. The proposed program aims to equip entrepreneurs with practical skills to expand their online presence, improve productivity, and access international customers through digital platforms.
The minister also underscored the importance of adopting emerging technologies to strengthen Pakistan’s competitiveness, particularly in sectors with strong export potential. He said the government is focused on creating an enabling environment for digital businesses by promoting innovation, improving digital infrastructure, and supporting skills development.
Meta representatives welcomed the discussions and expressed interest in exploring opportunities for collaboration that align with the company’s mission of supporting digital inclusion and economic empowerment. Both sides discussed potential areas of cooperation, including digital literacy, AI adoption, entrepreneurship training, and initiatives designed to help businesses leverage technology for sustainable growth.
The meeting reflects Pakistan’s broader efforts to accelerate digital economic reforms and integrate AI-driven solutions into commerce and industry. If implemented, the proposed partnership could significantly strengthen the country’s SME ecosystem, expand e-commerce adoption, and enhance the digital capabilities of entrepreneurs, contributing to economic growth, job creation, and increased participation in the global digital economy.
